Dont know if its what you are looking for but I read an older post on this forum talking about music and sounds effects.

I'm a professional songwriter with my own studio. Im busy a lot of the time but It might be quite fun to give it a shot. Ive never done sound effects but im sure i could manage if you need some.

Cheers

I use cubase SX 3 for writing and audio editing and ive got a LE version of Peak bias.

Ive played around with audacity, its good.

lol i dont know what buzz machines is but ill have a look. Very Happy

What about file sizes? Thats the only problem i can see. Sound effects are fine, but if I write a piece of music would you be able to use mp3? - other wise the file size will be too big.

Dude! That would be awesome! Very Happy

MP3 is just fine for music. For sound effects I'm using WAV because that's what OpenAL supports out of the box, but music doesn't need to be localized, so I can play it through native components. I actually have it set up already to play music, it just needs a song. I used to have one, but it was slightly copy-righted, so I took it out for distribution. Smile

As for sound effects... anything weapony, metallic, booms, clanks, wooshes, ... Smile

OpenAL also supports OGG, the license free format. The companies that made your sound programs had to buy a license to encode using the mp3 compression format.

Buzz is a neat program. There are *nix, Mac, and Windows variants. The orig was made for Windows, but the guy who wrote it lots all the files. The entire project has been frozen for two years!!! The spin-offs are also good, but not quite to the point where the orig is. Once they catch up, the orig Buzz will be gone.

Buzz crashes alot, and is difficult to learn at first. It can be learned about two days of lazy work (wonder how I know that Mr. Green). However, it's very powerful. You can take the place of a hundred DJs. It has hundreds of digital mixing boards, sound creators, sound effects, etc. that can all be altered. The power of Buzz comes from it's ability to record these alterations like a sound studio would with those multi-million dollar mixing boards... w00t!

You can email it to me eventhorizon@viscerallogic.com Smile or if you have a website you could post it there... if you don't I'll be happy to post it on mine.

As for the 10.3 problem, I've gotten a crash dump, but I haven't had time to look into it yet. I will soon.

I like it. Posted here (4.2 MB MP3) for all to hear.

It's got the right ambient, sort of sci-fi feel to it. But maybe a bit more electric guitar. Don't want it to be too heavy, though, Event Horizon isn't quite as action-packed as Descent, after all! Very Happy

Groovy ok.

No probs.

Ill have a look at putting some more guitar in. Maybe some electric soloy type stuff in the main theme bit.

I would have put in more power chordy type stuff but my mac just had a freak out and we had to reinstal the system and my guitar sampler thing for chords isnt working... it cant find the samples and i cant either.. the disk is in my dads house in glasgow, ill have to get him to send me it.

I'll try and get that revised track to you at somepoint I've been a bit busy.

Anything else you want?

Maybe some squeeky gate type stuff.

I'll play with some sound effects too.

Cool. I haven't really been working on it too much lately, had a crazy week doing some wind tunnel testing for one of my classes. But it's done now!

Ooh, I just thought of a useful sound effect: something for when you get hit by a weapon... not quite an explosion, but something that conveys an impact.
