First, I'd like to say I'm really glad I found "Event Horizon". Even though it's not finished, I'm having fun playing it.

Time for the newbie stuff.

Is there a FAQ? I've got some basic gameplay questions, and I'll probably come up with more. I don't want to constantly bother everyone with them. For starters...

Why are there so many Earths?

Why does my cargo sometimes get unloaded at the wrong system?

How do I select control keys so I can change them? If I click on something, the control for that item immediately becomes "mouse". I've tried other things, all with similar results.

Where the heck is Teutonia?

Is there a way to enlarge the map, so it's easier to read?

Do some ships come pre-armed with various weapons? If so, is there a way to find out how well a ship is armed before buying it?

Is there a list of suggestions/known issues I can look at, so I'm not raising issues someone is already working on?

Thanks, guys.

Hio, I´m the second newest newbie thanks to you Very Happy

Truth be told, I haven´t played EH yet Mr. Green (Don´t tell Paul, he´s a front for a government agency)

Now, before all of you jump-ugly on me, I have an excuse (not a good one, but still one). My Mac is overfull of excess garbage and I haven´t had time to clean it off. I literally can´t even download EH, let alone install it - that is how full it is. Now if a certain somebody (not naming any names here - PAUL - Mr. Green Cool) had made a linux release, maybe I could help you.

As for other stuff, I think I can help you. What you see is what you get, if you don´t see a FAQ, there isn´t one. We aren´t very big so the only other sites we have are Paul´s Site and our Wiki Page.

Now, since I can´t play EH (PAUL Very Happy), I can only guess that the reason there are so many Earths is because we only have one or a few planet texture(s).

And, finally, all you have to do to find out if an issue has already been posted is to browse our forums. That´s what I did before I joined. There´s not much you have to read because there´s only about ten REAL posters.

Hopefully that answered some of your questions,
-Mogul a.k.a. ¨Talented Octopus with Fingers¨

P.S. This is my ONE-HUNDREDTH POST!!! Super-ONE-HUNDRED-POSTS-w00t!
P.P.S. If my typing´s a little funny, it´s because the driver for my keyboard is acting up. What happened was I installed German and Japanese support for KDE (I´m learning those right now) and didn´t like the result (sometimes it would show things in German, English, or Japanese - go figure) and I un-installed it. However, risidual traces have stayed and messed up things like the terminal (displays in German). NOW... my keyboard does stupid things after I was messing around with ¨Sticky Keys¨ for laughs - Aaargh.... So let that be a lesson to you Mr. Shift - don´t use linux unless you ABSOLUTELY know what you´re doing - like me Very Happy Linux is great, but not stable. Itś at least better than Doors (by MacroHard).

Paul can answer these better, but here's a few quick answers:

- The multiple earths only came in the latest release - they're just placeholders while the galaxy is being 'built', I think.

- Haven't heard the cargo problem before - that's one for Paul.

- The key prefs screen is a little odd, yeah. You have to click an entry twice to select it properly, then press the desired key.

- Teutonia is in the NS89 system.

- You can resize the map with the plus and minus keys.

- Yep, ships come prearmed with certain weapons - nope, there's no way to tell (in game) what they have. Might be an addition to the shipyard interface to petition Paul for. While we're talking about the shipyard, I've also been thinking that it would be nice for the selected ship model to replace the rotating planet (so we can get a better view at what we're buying Smile)

- Known issues: as Mogul said there's the Wiki, and it has a known bugs page.

And welcome to the board!

Thanks for the feedback, guys. You've answered all my questions. I'll remember to search the forums - that's a feature I usually forget about. If I get a chance, I'll see if I can reproduce the cargo problem so I can give Paul some more specific information.

So far, it seems that my cargo gets unloaded when I'm in the system that's next to the system that's supposed to be my destination. The only reason I've noticed that, though, is because I've run out of gas and had to land. It'll take a little experimentation.

I'm not sure what's up with the cargo thing. For the preferences, that's something I want to get fixed for the 0.6 release. I think your other questions are pretty much answered, but feel free to post anything more.
