Yeah, I know... it's been awhile. School started, and this is going to be a really crazy semester. I'm taking the senior design class, and my team is working on designing an unmanned aerial vehicle! It's a lot of work, but it's fun. Anyway, here's 0.6.1: EH 0.6.1. It's been so long since I've worked on it, I don't remember what's new! I just did some memory management overhauling, so hopefully it will run under 10.4 now. But probably not. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

Nice work! Smoothing, stardust and swinging 3rd person camera! Slight hit to my framerates but very acceptable indeed!
Now.. bug reports!
- Invisible new player name entry bug is back for me (in 0.6.0 too).
- Swinging camera works very nicely. It 'stops' a little bit hard, but that's nitpicking really.
- I'm guessing that the sun picture is linked to the camera somehow, right? Take a look at the sun in 3rd person for some serious warping of the space time continuum. It was in 0.6.0 too but I think it's even crazier with the new camera changes.
- Smoothing! I can definitely see it, but it looks mighty odd on my ships. Appears to apply well to your new freighter (only one smoothing group, right?). Any idea how to get my ships looking normal? (hah, a pun.)
- And stardust is really cool |

Bugs (Tested in 10.4)
Most buttons, when you press them, make a damn annoying sound.
Can't change ship controls.
Going to purchase ships unexpectedly quits. (Tested on Earth)
Leaving planets unexpectedly quits. (Tested on Earth)
Stardust is kinda wierd if you are close to a planet. (It appeared in front of earth a couple of times)
Feel free to prove me wrong, I'm sure Paul would appreciate it. _________________ -HHT

Here are some answers... hopefully I can get to work on them soon
Mike - Yes, there is only one smoothing group right now. If you want to mess with your normals, you could, but I will be adding multiple smoothing groups, so unless it really annoys you, I wouldn't worry about it. And the background pictures are definitely in need of an overhaul. I haven't quite figure out how to do that, but I am aware of that. Is the player name saved appropriately, even though you can't see it?
HHT - The sound is because the code that initializes Cocoa under 10.2-3 apparently goes even further in 10.4 and starts it running, so since it isn't expecting any key presses, it beeps. That should be a fairly simple fix (I think ). For the unexpected quits, can you try this out on another planet, also? And if you could email me your crash dump, that would be very helpful. I think I know what's going on with the stardust, so I'll look into how practical it is to fix that. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

Yep, the name is still fine in the player file, just invisible while entering it. G3 iMac, 16mb Rage128 Pro on 10.3.9, if that helps. |

Tested the shipyard and leaving planets on Mars with the same result.
And sorry for being ignorant, but how do you get the crash dump? Are there any topics on the site which expalin how? Hooray for ignorance! _________________ -HHT

Nothing to apologize for, I should have explained.
Go to your home folder/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ and there should be a file called "Event Horizon.crash.log"

0.6.1 doesn't work on mac os 10.3 . But on the bright side, I can use my other computer which has 10.4.
I can't purchase ships, it crashes, but I can change ship controls. I can leave planets like moons or mars, but not earth. Cannot hyperspace; it crashes.
I already posted the crash log on another post...
by crash I mean quits |

That's strange, since I'm developing it on 10.3! Can you send me the crash log from 10.3, also? _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

I think you need to get 10.4 then.... 0.6.1 is very buggy on it that you couldn't go 5 minutes without crashing and/or going into middle of nowhere and/or planets disappearing and/or ships disappearing when their armour drops below 30. Also very annoying keyboard sounds, as if you pressed the wrong button everytime. You couldn't buy ships, and have to get them manually... |

Crashlog here.. I think I found the problem by looking at it... I don't have openAL on this computer.... and I can't install it because I need the admin's password which I don't have. Might try to ask him tonite...
p.s you're right. he's my dad. |

Hmm, I thought I had compiled it so it would run using QuickTime if OpenAL wasn't available, but maybe I forgot to check the right box when I compiled this t ime. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |
