If you release this as open source, and put it on sourceforge, there'll be a ton new developers... the disadvantage is that your name is not the only one that goes on the product + you don't get to sell it when you finished...
But another upside, is , if (I know you won't.. ) you ever give up, there'll be always someone to take over.
P.S thanks for making the game!! |

I think you have taken everyone by surprise here though ^^

I had dreams of profits when I started, but I don't think that was realistically gonna happen... oh, well. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

We'll see how it goes... if it doesn't seem to offer much benefit, I figure I can always continue on in my closed-source way. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

Well, I'm not sure you can withdraw something once you open-source it unless you do a lot of fancy legal footwork.

Not so. He can offer a version of the code in open-source, but all further devellopment can still be made under his own name, & thus be proprietary work. Since the first code was his to beguin with, he can also use it out of the GNU license, so yeah, he can open-source a version & then keep on working on a private version. _________________ "Violence is the last resort of the incompetence", Isaac Asimov

Exactly. I still have a copyright on the code that I have written.
And it is now all available at the sourceforge website. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |
