Made a lil' fighter, 206 faces. I can slice that down some more if it's too much. Hopefully more to come later, time permitting (darn uni!)

Now, any way I can get it in the game and do the texture co-ords? |

looks good, 206 faces should be fine, i did a stress test on my 800Mhz G4 imac with a ship that was over 20,000 polygons and it was still playable (15-25 fps) as for putting the ships in the game, paul posted this a while back...

If you want to test your ships yourself, just open up the .obj file in a text editor and change the second line to "mtllib Courier.mtl" (or any other .mtl file name you see in the "ships" folder in the plugin, then open the .evh file and change the "data" field to point to your .obj file (which you should place inside the ships folder). Oh, and also the ships should be sized to fit inside a cube at the origin extending out 1 unit in each direction. |
have fun making ships i'll probably start back up next time i have a break without homework, and once i take my 3d modeling class next semester im sure the quality of my stuff will improve greatly _________________ This space left intentionally blank. |

In the game, textured, and flying very nicely

And the game files if anyone wants to take her for a spin.
edit: I seem to have the hull textures on top of the fuselage a little too far to the left, I'll fix that later. |

Wow, nice ships…
Let me see if I can whip up a online plug-in hosting thingy. _________________ Cap'n Hector |

Wow! That's a nice ship! Nice clean geometry with a great texture. What do you use to make your texture? That's a kind of look I'd like to make, but don't know how. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

Thanks I'm using Macromedia Fireworks for texturing - not exactly Photoshop, but it does the job. |

Hey all, I'm back from holidays (and exams before that). I've made a new ship (files here), but it keeps crashing the game - Paul, any clue what I'm doing wrong? Tried to keep everything the same as with the last ship, but no dice... unless I've forgotten anything obvious. (It's a new version of the Dolphin, hope you don't mind my plagiarism of existing ships ) |

Well, it worked for me. Here's a picture of it molesting an asteroid. I've uploaded the Test.bundle in which I put it.
Interestingly, while it displayed fine in my program, when I opened it with Wings3D it was all black. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

Aha, found the (unrelated) problem. Note to self - accidently removing a ship's .evh file is a bad thing. |

Built another shiny new ship, the Scorpion RT5 Interceptor. Now available from your local starship dealer. |

Very nice work, Mike. I'm very impressed.
I happened to notice that you guys use Wings. While Wings is good, Blender is more professional and easy to use (once you get passed the controls). Blender, like Wings, is freeware/opensource. I also saw that Mike uses Macromedia FIreworks; however, for texturing I use The Gimp. Gimp is almost as advanced as Photshop, but is freeware/opensource and runs under the GNU Public License. I only use freeware and strongly suggest GIMP and Blender.
Hope it helps,

Thanks! Unlike the others I'm using 3DS Max myself. |

Whoa! The reason I use freeware is because that stuff is so expensive. $2000-$5000 for Maya, $3000 for 3DS Max, and I think Lightwave is $2000. Photoshop alone is $900. There is no way I can afford stuff like that so I use freeware.
