Has anyone had an ideas about the story line? Both Universe wise and line wise?

Expanding more on the rebellion idea, you can chose 3 sides.
- rebellion
- empire
- pirates.
You are a mercenary/bounty hunter sent to destroy empire/rebellion. Pirates try to get rich by killing other people, guerilla war tactics. you need 3-d play; you only have 2-d. |

I might've already emailed paul with this idea but for the universe i was thinking that the universe could be set up with separate galaxies that are connected with jumpgate type things. Then for the plot maybe have it so that if you follow a certain storyline you eventually gain the trust of the governing party on earth and they let you do an exploration mission for them which involves going through a black hole or something and you end up in a new universe with new storylines etc. etc. etc. so that just when people think that the game is ending they realize that they're only about halfway through. I can expand on this greatly if you would like me to. _________________ This space left intentionally blank. |

I like you're idea. Have you ever played Geneforge? Choose a faction, gain their trust, get their goods. |

yes i have played geneforge, i have it i think anyway yeah that was pretty much what i was saying but mainly i think it would be cool to have an alternate universe type thing if only for the upgrades you could get there and bring back but it would be cool to develop a storyline there too _________________ This space left intentionally blank. |

How about an alternate universe where everything is the opposite? you could get places faster, and it would put a new twist on things. |

that would be most interesting, but only if we get to develop storylines for both universes _________________ This space left intentionally blank. |

No, intertwined as one large conspiracy.
How about this: Everyone has an alternate person in each universe, except you and a couple of other people. Therefore, you can travel between the two of them. Others have each chosen a side, and are about to wreak havoc among the two parralell universes, and it's up to you to stop them. |

It's been done on Star Trek - The Shadow Universe saga.
What would be cool if we could find a storyline that has not been done to death and allows us a certain degree of freedom in which direction to take the plot.
Of course, this is the second hardest thing to do on a project like this - Paul has the hardest bit!

WHAT?!?!?! they stole our idea...before we came up with it...anyway...if its been done before lets not do it but i still say there should be an alternate universe, not one thats identical but one thats totally different and you have to go through a storyline to get to it. by totally different i mean like non-human intelligent life, new ships, new upgrades, new storylines, etc. it would be harder to do but would make for a much better game
Edit: am i allowed to have a cool title too since i was the 7th registered user and im [sort of] helping with the storyline?!?!?! _________________ This space left intentionally blank. |

True, and you were actually the first person to respond when I posted on MacBetaGroups.

I've been thinking some more about this today.
What would be a challenge, both from a writing end and a mission programming end would be if the big bad enemy was ~drumroll please~ your future self.
In order to avert a future catastrophe (a really BIG rock killing off mankind) people have come back in time to ensure that when the rock dose come that mankind will either be able to get rid of it (Maybe that's the final battle) or they will be so scattered that nothing short of multiple nova's in the local area could wipe them out.
Yeah, I know, temporal paradoxes. But nothing that can't be resolved with enough effort.
So for the first half of the game, on whatever thread you are on, you are working to stop the Alien Menace from it's actions - then when you find out the truth, some of your missions would involve stopping your earlier self from completing some of the missions that you have already done.
Which in itself gives some more challenges - can you kill yourself? What happens if you do kill yourself? Multiple universes? Guide Humanity to survival - despite your best efforts.
Hmmm....
