I recently had that problem too. I jumped into a system which suddenly became populated with hundreds of ships, bogging things down, but they soon left and things returned to normal. Is this what happened to you, or does it constantly run at low FPS?
Also, have you played before with higher FPS and just 0.5.8 does this to you?

Yes, it will be very helpful to know what kind of computer you have.
Also, could you try not posting your subject all in caps, and be a bit more descriptive?

| I am on 10.3 and i always have low FPS and i have had 50 FPS before but then i quit and when i played again it was low and has been low after that and i have met the minumim requirements |

That sounds like you might have a corrupted preference file…can you try dragging HOME/Library/Preferences/Event Horizon.plist to the desktop and try the game again?

HOME is your home folder. Go to the Go menu and choose "Home", then open Library, then Preferences, and find "Event Horizon.plist" and drag that to the desktop.
