Greetings and good day...
my name is ozone.
thanks for puting this game together.
I'm new to programing and it's been fun learning how to mod this emerging game.
Ive been working on some of the bugs recently and fixed a few things.
I've downloaded the d'anza bundle it crashs every where the captain made changes. i think its cus the code he uses still refers to default files.
I've added some new systems, ships and cleaned up some system links to streamline a working paper map,
I've added backdrops to all systems so that the 3rd person view works properly.
i'm working on introducing more items to trade on each planet so that it might be engaging enough to look for differnent things to find, trade and make money.
when i finish adding the D'anza files to the Terazel.bundle I'll post it up for inspection.
I would also be interested in learning how to mod the EvH app file. but i dont know how to write in C or C++ any info?
thanks again

Yay!!! a new programmer! w00t! So many games are put under because they have too few programmers; and, nothing the our lovely graphics artists , but those games usually have a million graphics people to one programmer.

Yeah, I don't know much C/C++ either, but I do have two excelent books on learning. They are both written by Stephen Prata. The C book is C Primer Plus and the C++ book is C++ Primer Plus. Hope it helps.

Welcome to the team!
Right now you would have to know C to mod the program (Objective-C, really, but start with C). However, I am working on adding a scripting language, which will make mod programming able to be more sophisticated than just using numeric flags, but much simpler than compiling anything.
The D'Anza plugin is probably crashing because it hasn't been updated to match the new releases of EH. Which reminds me, I haven't updated the plugin development guide recently, either. I think any plugin that follows the guide currently will work without crashing, but I'm pretty sure I've added some features since then
Anyway, we'll be happy to take a look at what you've added. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

I think Python is really the best scripting language, and it'll be easier to implement because it already exists. All you need to do is add libraries for functions to control the mod and your set... sorta .

Hmm, that's an interesting idea... I'll look into it. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

Python looks pretty good, but unfortunately there isn't a good way of using it in an application under 10.2. But I found that F-Script supports embedding into applications, and it is based on Objective-C already, so I think I'll try using that. Somethings about it are kind of strange, but over all it looks like it's probably the easiest way of adding an interpreter _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

Greetings one and all.
I've managed to update the D'anza.bundle mods into v.05.12
and I'm almost finished with the Terazel.bundle. I still haven't figured out how to get them to work without being embedded in the default files.
anyway its almost ready.

well, as promised the Terazel.bundle modifications are ready.
I have managed to include an updated version of the D'Anza.bundle
and added several NEW additions of ships, missions, and trade items.
I have taken liberty and cleaned up the mapping system and links.
while provideing a html map of the current prices of the NEW trade items.
downloading is a little tricky cuz i don't have a permenent always on
connection so i set up a specific remote server account just for
this project to allow sharing of files. feel free to use the account
with in reason, for EVENT HORIZON.
to download goto:
http://www.streamload.com
enter in user name: terazel
password: horizon
then goto my files and download: terazel V-0.6.2.zip
please note: you might have to add
a .zip extention after the dowload is complete.
then run an unzip program.
however, there are several bugs still need to be worked
out but it is playable. It is not yet compatable with the EH V-0.513 version.
the problems are listed in the changes file.
I don't know how to change any of the hard mechanics of the game.
my goal was to flesh out some of game play story interactions.
there are problems with the pugin editor so all the files were edited manually line for line.
I do have a few questions though.
Q1. what are we supposed to do with the console feature?
Q2. can there be an new tech unlock feature?
Q3. can the trade prices be set to change monthy?
Q4. some missions time occurance variables were set to .00000000000000001
and they still appear every time,WHY?
Q4B can they be set to appear less frequently?
Q5. can payments be made in other variables like trade
items or weapons?
well thanks again for your time and consideration
i hope everyone enjoys my efforts.
it's been fun and at times really aggravating.
but hey it works. if you have any problems, or want to complain.
just send an email.

Wow... I just downloaded Terazel, and you have been quite busy! I haven't had time to look it over thoroughly yet, but I'll look into the bugs you've found and see if I can figure out what's going on
But why did you make the map hexagonal? It looks unnatural that way...
Anyway, I'm back from spring break now, so I'll get crackin' _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

greetings and gooday...
good morning paul...
to answer your qestion,
i chose to to alter the map view for several reasons.
1. it appeared to be upside down in relation to the
X,Y coordinates.
2. after it was right side up, NEW systems could be
installed accurately.
3. with the new layout consitentcy; the links, names,
and spactical postition between each system can be
read and determined with ease.
4. this consitentcy was devloped to coinside with a
working paper map, I.E.; the HTML file.
5. with this NEW map, the trade items can be plotted,
tracked and eventually recorded.
now, with all this in mind, an organic feel was sacrificed
to allow for greater clarity of game play.
at some point, when all the suffcient planets have been
introduced, it won't take much to REPLOT the universe
to any style that may seem appropriate.
I hope you're not too offended.
Well, anyway, I thought it was a good idea at the time.
well, off we go...back to the salt mines.

I didn't want to make a new thread.... What is the console used for?
And please don't right in blue.... I really can't read it in this (subsilver) forum theme. |

Put it in Solaris, Cap'n Hector was doing something with the site and it changed from default Solaris to default Subsilver. It should be fixed now for new members (you'll still have to change it though because you registered when it was Subsilver).

I put it in subsilver because it loads quicker.... Plus I like subsilver better than solaris because, simply, I like lighter colours than dark.
As you can see I registered yesterday.... |
