I think we might need two circular radar screens - one to display what's in front of the ship (which is what we have now), plus one looking backwards, to display what's behind the ship. I've seen this used in other cockpit-perspective games (various Star Wars games come to mind). It's a simple, easy-to-understand way to have true 360º radar. |

I know you haven´t had a chance yet, but I proposed a similar idea on my first post. Paul said that he´s going to implement it in an upcoming release. How it works is, well... I´ll just quote what I said before:

For a 3D IFF have three ellipses which represent a sphere, have hollow dots for planets, colored dots for ships, and Up, Down, North, South, East, West at the different poles of the sphere. As the player rotates, the sphere rotates the opposite direction, thus showing the “3D-ness” of the navigation. The bigger the dot, the closer it is. Just like in EV, the other ships would be colored Red, Green, Grey, or Yellow depending on their hostility status. |
Hope it makes you more excited,

P.S. I´ve been thinking about making more distant objects fade in itensity rather than shrink. _________________ "Never sneak up on a turtle while he's welding" |

I know, I can´t wait to see it in action. I think I have the idea copyrighted and dated somewhere, so I still reserve rights to the idea (I hope). If not::

“Game Mogul“ is an acceptable name for copyright because it is a known pseudonym of mine. I try to be conscientious of copyright stuff and copyright all of my work. I just wanted to release this idea for a one time use by EH. I just hope that I´m not too late in saying this (I wasn´t thinking when I originally posted it). If it is too late then oh well...

I think that needs to be a patent, not a copyright. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

I think what would be good for a radar, would be like a top down view at things, like the EV radar, for example, so you can tell how far you are away from the system centre... |

That's what I used to have, but since EH is fully 3D, that didn't make too much sense, as you couldn't tell where in relation to you something was. Now you can select it and it's easy to use your radar to see where it is. _________________ Differentiation is an integral part of calculus. |

But if the object is too far away you couldn't see it at all.... |
