There's not a hard-coded limit, but it definitely does get slower. I would say a couple hundred poly's is a good number to target, but if you can get it lower that's awesome.
Of course, as time progresses I suppose I don't have to maintain the same minimum requirements (I originally intended EH to run on a 350 MHz G3 iMac , which wasn't too old at that time).
